The fully automatic, programmable grinding and polishing system VELOX 102-JR was developed for unattended sample preparation at high sample throughput , from surface grinding to fine grinding, polishing, cleaning, and drying. Simply place the sample holders into the feeder, select the appropriate program, and start the process at the touch of a button. Everything else is automatic: The samples are prepared for analysis completely without manual intervention.
During operation, up to 6 sample holders can be placed in a queue to enable continuous and uninterrupted sample preparation .

More efficient preparation with consistent quality
The requirements for sample preparation quality remain unchanged and high: The surface of a sample must not be affected by grinding and polishing and must have a completely flat, scratch-free structure. However, the necessary manual effort can now be significantly reduced: With the VELOX 102-JR, you can automate the entire grinding and polishing process reliably, reproducibly, and without operator intervention.
What's changing is the effort required for flawless sample preparation in metallography . For years, METKON has offered automated cutting machines, automatic mounting presses, and semi-automated grinding and polishing machines . With the VELOX 102-JR, even the most time-consuming step – grinding and polishing – is now fully automated.
The integrated storage compartment can hold up to twelve prepared sample holders (for single or central force), each equipped with six embedded samples. Operating the system is limited to changing the sample holders in seconds and starting the automatic grinding and polishing processes.
For continuous, unattended processing, METKON relies on exceptionally durable diamond grinding wheels and high-quality polishing cloths for long-term use. If your company already has experience in sample preparation, machine training takes only about 30 minutes. Thanks to the short processing time of only 12-15 minutes (depending on the settings), approximately 180 embedded samples can be processed in a single shift with outstanding quality (when using a 6-position sample holder).

Precise & efficient: Automated preparation with the VELOX 102
The VELOX 102 handles the entire grinding and polishing process – programmable, repeatable, and without manual intervention. All relevant parameters, such as grinding pressure, speed, dosing quantities, and cleaning times, can be individually set and permanently saved for each work step. This ensures consistent and reproducible results, even with changing requirements.
Thanks to the automatic sample holder feeder, multiple batches can be processed without interruption . The grinding and polishing wheels are changed automatically, according to the selected preparation program. Integrated consumable life monitoring reduces downtime and ensures stable 24/7 operation.
The processing time per sample holder with four embedded samples, or a special sample holder for welds, etc., is approximately 1.2 to 15 minutes (depending on the settings). Durable diamond grinding wheels and high-quality polishing cloths designed for continuous use are employed. Even complex preparation methods can be easily created and recalled instantly.
