Planing irregular samples takes too long? Despite the high removal volume, a sample can be ready for examination in <7 minutes (including grinding + polishing)! Planing with pre-grinding quality is carried out within just 2 minutes (including loading). The FORCIPLAN 102 works with a SiC grinding stone and achieves (thanks to the high number of revolutions) a quality that corresponds to grinding with sandpaper grain 240 / 320. With this grinding machine, not only is planning achieved, but work can continue directly with fine grinding (e.g. grain 400 / 600). The FORCIPLAN 102 surface grinding machine is THE solution if
- a high sample throughput must be managed and the time required must be reduced
- a large volume has to be planned or removed (weld seams, segments of crankshafts / balance shafts, large components)
- the samples have different surface levels (component structure)
- the samples cannot be clamped parallel (several samples to each other)
- a defined material thickness must be removed (e.g. removal specification 0,5 mm)

On a metallographic grinding machine, it can take 15 or even 30 minutes for a large amount of material to be removed. Use the FORCIPLAN 192 and reduce this time to 2 minutes! One of the special features of this system is that the samples can be planned in the FORCIPLAN and ground and polished WITHOUT RE-CLAMPING (in the same sample holder) in the FORCIPOL / ACCURA grinding + polishing machine. The samples are clamped on a leveling device in the sample holder (central pressure sample holder):
For example:
- Ø 145 mm for 6 embedded samples of Ø 40 mm (grinding time less than 1 minute)
- Ø 175 mm for a very large, clamped rectangular sample (grinding time 1 – 4 minutes depending on the number of strokes)
The programmable surface grinding machine moves under the cup grinding stone with one or more strokes using a carriage. This results in a defined removal. If required, a second fine removal can be carried out (for large volumes). The sample holder with the clamped and now flat samples is used directly on the grinding and polishing machine without re-clamping and without new referencing. With the FORCIPLAN or ACCURA, metallographic preparation is possible in just 4 steps / 7 minutes!
FORCIPLAN 102 – efficient metallographic planning of large volumes
The FORCIPLAN 102 surface grinding machine essentially consists of a heavy die-cast aluminum base and a powder-coated housing. A grinding head (cup grinding stone) with drive motor and motorized height adjustment as well as a motorized linear table with a fixed chuck are integrated into this. The high-torque drive motor of the cup grinding stone ensures high material removal with a speed of 2.000 rpm. Different grinding stones (SiC / aluminum oxide) can be used for different materials.
The FORCIPLAN 102 is equipped with a programmable SIEMENS PLC control. The operator can easily create his own programs using the 5,7″ touchscreen monitor integrated in the machine, in which the following settings are saved in up to 25 parameter sets:
- finely adjustable delivery speed
- start point and end point
- Height adjustment (resolution 0,01 mm) for removal height as single step, step adjustment, programmed adjustment steps
- speed of the cup grinding stone
- Limiting the feed force (avoiding burning of the sample)
- with or without cooling (if the machine is used, for example, for spectral analysis / X-ray analysis samples)
Different clamping systems are available for the secure holding of multiple sample holders or individual samples. These can be easily mounted on the T-slot plate. The optional circulation cooling system is essential for metallographic sections (can be omitted for OES / XRF analyses). The cooling water ensures effective sample cooling and abrasive grains are removed. The work area is completely enclosed to prevent any danger to persons. The drive motor has an electronic braking system to bring it to a standstill within a short time. The safety lock only allows access to the work area when the machine has come to a complete standstill.
