We calibrate professional, with short downtime, inexpensive and including small maintenance, repair and adjustment work. We have been calibrating since 1970 / as Thank you – Calibration service or DAkkS – Calibration laboratory (formerly DKD) since 1996!
- Our company was approved by the PTB in 1996 as a DKD service for the calibration of material testing machines accredited
- As part of the regular ISO 17025 audits (2011), this was converted into a DAkkS accreditation. In May 2012, we received the official
DAkkS accreditation certificate and from this point on we were able to offer the calibration of materials testing machines as a DAkkS laboratory. - In April 2016, we successfully completed the 5-year re-audit of the DAkkS accreditation for materials testing machines.
Unofficially, the auditor made the following statement: “One of the most professional DAkkS laboratories for materials testing machines that we have audited.” - At the end of May 2020, another DAkkS audit was carried out based on the revised ISO 17025. Here, too, the very high level of competence was (unofficially) recognized.
Every year we calibrate approx. 4.000 materials testing machines. Thanks to our high-quality equipment, we are able to carry out DAkkS calibrations efficiently and in accordance with standards. We would be happy to provide you with a quote tailored to your needs free of charge and without obligation. Please send us a short list of your materials testing machines.
Material testing machines – DAkkS calibrations: Like clockwork …
... materials testing machines must work with high precision and display accuracy. To ensure this, we recommend regular calibration of your materials testing machines. This should be carried out by an accredited DAkkS calibration center. Only a company accredited according to ISO17025 can demonstrate the relevant expertise and ensure that the transfer standards used are traceable to the national metrological standards.

Our range of DAkkS calibration services
Some providers mention the pure calibration costs, but do not mention the additional costs and refer to the small print: “Travel costs and travel times are billed according to the actual costs incurred in accordance with the currently valid remuneration rates”. That sounds binding and fair. So your purchase compares our "complete price" with the "net calibration prices" of the competition. In the end…
It can also happen that important measurement variables are not included in the calibration offer: For example, in the case of a tensile testing machine, in addition to checking the force, the length change sensor / strain gauge (if available) or, increasingly, the crosshead speed must also be calibrated.

First company without brand loyalty
SCHÜTZ+LICHT Prüftechnik GmbH was accredited by the PTB Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt in Braunschweig in 1996 as the first manufacturer-independent company for the calibration of materials testing machines.
validity of the certificate
Unlike certification according to ISO 9000 ff, for example, there is no time limit for the certificate when accrediting according to ISO 17025. The accreditation is valid indefinitely. It is therefore not sensible to send/request a "new" accreditation certificate every year. A copy of the certificate is also available for download: Please click on the certificate or on the link below.

FAQs
When does a DAkkS calibration of the materials testing machine have to be carried out?
Ultimately, no regulation can force a DAkkS calibration to be carried out. Or maybe it can: If these material testing machines are used to test safety-relevant parts (screws in accordance with ISO 898 / PPE fall protection / concrete steel (reinforcing steel) or similar), production / quality control may only be carried out with a DAkkS-calibrated material testing machine. Or your customer specifies that the material testing machines must be subjected to a DAkkS calibration. This is prescribed in particular by all automobile manufacturers affiliated to IATF 16949 for their suppliers.
Why are DAkkS calibration services cheaper at SCHÜTZ+LICHT?
From the very beginning, service for testing machines has been an essential part of our company philosophy. Here we have "learned" to use our human resources sparingly. We are constantly optimizing our services in order to be able to carry out calibrations more efficiently. Our customers are always pleased that we only block the material testing machines for a very short time. And thanks to this efficient work, we can offer DAkkS calibrations at a lower price than almost any other company.
Why should a specialist company for material testing machines be commissioned with the DAkkS calibration?
If a provider only offers calibrations, it often happens that materials testing machines that have just been discarded (not compliant with standards) have to be adjusted or repaired by another company. However, if a specialist company is commissioned to carry out the calibration, a repair can usually be carried out immediately and the calibration can then be started and completed again. Since no further travel is required, the costs are reduced. Pure calibration services do offer a certain level of service, but can only partially replace the knowledge of a specialist company.
Why is the calibration quality of the DAkkS calibration laboratories different?
Not every supplier has placed value on the best possible equipment when purchasing the measuring equipment. The measurement uncertainty determined and certified by the DAkkS is therefore correspondingly worse. Some companies can only award class 1, even though their testing machine would have clearly achieved class 0,5, for example. Due to its excellent technical equipment, our calibration laboratory is able to work with the smallest possible measurement uncertainties that can be awarded for on-site calibration of materials testing machines.
Why is a better grade important for your materials testing machines?
When specifying the measurement uncertainty of your own test laboratory, the connection measurement uncertainty of the commissioned calibration laboratory has become a decisive quality feature. Your own measurement uncertainty can be worse by a factor of 2 if the measurement uncertainty of your DAkkS supplier indicates minimalist equipment. (see data sheet of DAkkS - accredited measurement quantities including measurement uncertainties).
Which regulation obliges your company to have a DAkkS calibration of your materials testing machine carried out?
Ultimately, no regulation can force you to carry out a DAkkS calibration. Or maybe it can: If these materials testing machines are used to test safety-relevant parts (screws according to ISO 898 / PPE fall protection / concrete steel (reinforcing steel) or similar), production / quality monitoring may only be carried out with a DAkkS-calibrated materials testing machine. Or your customer may request that the materials testing machine be subjected to a DAkkS calibration. This is required of suppliers by all automobile manufacturers who are affiliated to IATF 16949.
