The lowering test head, driven by servo motors, enables test loads from 10 grams (!) (0,0981 N) to 250 kg (2452,5 N). The INNOVATEST® development department has done a great job here in creating a unique, ultra-precise load cell system with the appropriate control electronics.

In the most advanced version with full equipment, this machine offers fully automatic tests using a motor-controlled XY cross table, hardness curves CHD, Nht, Rht, weld seam hardness testing, test point position detection with a mouse click, freely configurable test patterns, hardness scan with colored 3D diagram (material homogeneity) and standard hardness tests in individual or series tests. In addition, hardness tests according to Martens (universal hardness) and Jominy hardness tests (face quenching test) can be carried out.

Incredible test load range: The servo motor-driven test head enables test loads from 10 gf up to 250 kgf, which is currently unique on the world market. To achieve these goals, the INNOVATEST® development department has done a great job and developed a unique hardness testing machine with high-precision load cells and excellent control electronics. The loading mechanism, driven by a top-class servo system, positions the test head in any desired position at high speed and with sub-micrometer accuracy.

Quick-change system for XY tables and test tables:

As an alternative to the normal CNC cross table, a large T-slot cross table or rigid prismatic or flat test tables can be adapted. To save time, the NEMESIS 5000 is equipped with another unique feature: a change system for changing test tables in a matter of seconds.

Safety first: anti-collision system

To ensure maximum safety for the user and to protect the hardness tester from incorrect operation, all types of the NEMESIS 5000 series are equipped with an advanced detection, warning and retraction system. This reliably prevents a damaging Z-axis/test head collision as soon as an unusual force is applied to it. Even with small forces, the test head stops within milliseconds and retracts again. This protects fingers, hands, workpieces, optics and indenters from damage - replacing a damaged optic or indenter is a thing of the past.

Clamping cap/hold-down clamp:

An integrated hold-down device is available as an option for fixing/clamping the test piece on the test table. This can be used to secure the workpiece against tipping and to carry out a Rockwell hardness test with clamping.

software features

Individual hardness tests, application of pre-stored test programs, use of prepared test samples, CHD, Nht, Rht tests, complex test sequences (e.g. weld seam hardness testing), surface hardness testing (hardness scanning), Jominy hardness testing. All of these evaluations and control sequences are part of the options offered by the IMPRESSIONS® hardness testing and control software - right up to monitoring the test sequence.

2D/3D hardness surface testing (scanning)

This is a newly developed tool for the detailed inspection of the hardness distribution over the entire range of, for example, heat-treated samples (testing the homogeneity of the material/treatment). This method is used specifically in research and development for assessment in materials research. It can also be used for other material qualifications (e.g. testing of weld seam connections, etc.) in order to obtain a visualization of the analysis in the form of a 2D/3D color diagram (optional equipment).

This evaluation is also of interest in research and development in order to study deeper insights into the material behavior during crack formation and crack growth due to fatigue. By using this special evaluation ("KIC test"), the brittleness of the material can be determined and crack formation can be predicted using the Vickers hardness test.

Ultra-fast, specialized system control

The heart of the FALCON 5000 is an embedded ultra-fast system controller with an i7 processor and 2 Intel SSD hard drives. This controller runs under Windows 7 Embedded and is 100% protected against unwanted changes by "deep freeze" (freezing of system settings). As long as this protection is not deactivated, nothing can affect the safe operation of this controller.

The advanced report generator allows you to configure and control the output and helps you easily export to a CSV file for further use in Excel or other MS applications. Within these programs, you have all the design options you already know from MIRCOSOFT products.
