Do you need an evaluation system for measuring a Brinell indentation?
INNOVATEST and other manufacturers offer inexpensive hardness testing machines that do not have their own optical system for measuring Brinell hardness indentations. These Brinell presses only produce a Brinell hardness indentation. To measure the Brinell indentation, an external optical measurement system is required. The following systems are used for this purpose in industry:
- Measuring microscopes / Brinell magnifiers with integrated scale / Vernier
(requires estimation of a diagonal / evaluation using a Brinell table) - Profile projectors
- Macro-microscopes
- Microscopes with < 5x magnification
- Video measuring systems for approx. € 10.000 (competitive price – INNOVATEST much cheaper)

General Information
The BIOS Optical Brinell Scanner is a handheld device that connects to a standard laptop, tablet or any other PC running Windows 10 operating system. The software supplied with the device is easy to install and provides an excellent way to measure Brinell indentations in just one tenth of a second.
Different materials have different surfaces, and for Brinell, rapid light adjustment is crucial for accurate evaluation. Since automatic brightness settings are too slow and often suboptimal, a scroll wheel is integrated, which can be conveniently operated with the thumb, allowing for extremely fast adjustments.
